1. What is it exactly that you do and what “VinylMint” is all about?

Vinylmint is a virtual recording studio for users to create sound recordings without the necessity of recording music in the same location, and enables this through the use of both cloud-and-mobile based applications.

The inclusive collaborative environment enhances the creative experience ultimately providing our users efficiencies in speed, cost, and productivity (time).

2. When has “VinylMint” been founded? And what stage is “VinylMint” currently at?

Vinylmint was founded in May of 2011 after Byron Morgan left Universal Fontana/Kedar Entertainment Group, where he was an Associate Director of Marketing.

Vinylmint is currently in an early access period closed to a select community of musicians, engineers, and developers to begin building a sustainable ecosystem of music enthusiast.

3. What is “VinylMint”’s business model and how does it work?

Vinylmint charges a monthly subscription fee for each of its clients based on their productivity and storage space desired.

Enterprise subscriptions will be sold at a discount to educational and religious institutions based on the number of users, and sold at a bulk rate to music distribution companies.

4. How did your team meet? And who in your team does what?

Our team met through various tech meetups, special projects for the City of Norfolk, and hackfest in Silicon Anchor.

Byron currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Zack Miller is Vinylmint’s President.

The technical teams consist of Mike Provance, an experienced technologist who serves as our technical advisor, Jeremy Johnson the Chief of Product Design, and Jeff Muller the Chief Technical Officer.

Ryan Mounaime, Chief Marketing Officer, executes the marketing strategy and public relations efforts.

5. What, exactly, makes you different from existing options, what will make your product and/or service stand out in the marketplace? In other words what’s unique about you and what’s new about what you make?

Vinylmint is built for individuals, music talent, enterprises, and academic institutions.

Vinylmint delivers a social recording utility for on-the-go users through both web- and mobile-based apps.

Vinylmint’s open application programing interface (or API) functions as the collaborative front-end for the users.

Web 2.0 functionalities create a real-time environment for users and encourage music fans to engage their favorite artist.

The site uses a searchable sound library and collaboration queue to match recording users together and music consumers with their music preference.

1. What is it exactly that you do and what “HangTrend” is all about?

HangTrend is a place where users can explore the newest fashion items, share them with friends and get recommendations for new outfits.

Hangtrend has over 1 million products from 10,000+ brands.

Users can find clothing and accessories that they like and add them to their “Closet”. The closet is a way for users to express themselves, add items they like, own, or want to own and showcase their style to their friends.

2. When has “HangTrend” been founded? And what stage is “HangTrend” currently at?

HangTrend was founded in December 2011.

Our product is currently in Beta phase but we are swiftly moving toward getting our product to the next level.

HangTrend is currently in the process of raising some seed financing and is actively looking for strategic investors.

We are currently a small team of business and engineering professionals looking to grow and take our idea to bigger markets.

3. What is “HangTrend”’s business model and how does it work?

The business model has 3 main revenue generators.

1. Affiliate Marketing – Every product on our site is purchasable; we’ve partnered up with the 4 largest Affiliate Marketing Programs (Google, Amazon, LinkShare and Commission Junction) to ensure all of our items are available. On average, we receive about 13%. Currently have over 10K Brands and 1M products growing daily.

2. Dynamic Targeted Marketing – This is our proprietary revenue stream. Our algorithms allow us to quantify a user’s style. Using this quantification, we are able to offer retailers direct product placements to target demographic users whose style correlates well with their products.

3. Data Analysis – Based on product and user data we collect, we can offer trend forecasts and analysis, User preference analysis and competitive analysis (general or product-to-product)

4. How did your team meet? And who in your team does what?

Val and Leore were college roommates and met Enea through a mutual acquaintance.

Val is in charge of all things related to Business Development. He focuses on Marketing, Sales, User Feedback, and partnering with top tier retailers for our site.

Enea is in charge of all things technical.

He leads our development team and solves all problems related to the the web.

Leore is the project manager of the group. He works with everyone to make sure everything gets done correctly and on time.

He develops and creates all the back-end algorithms and ensures our project gets in the hands of the right users.

5. What, exactly, makes you different from existing options, what will make your product and/or service stand out in the marketplace? In other words what’s unique about you and what’s new about what you make?

Our secret sauce is two fold.

Our proprietary algorithms are able to quantify a user’s style and based on their style we are able to recommend them new and relevant products that they ultimately would wear and purchase.

Our recommendation engine is unlike anyone else’s and since we have so many items on our site you are not limited to one brand or one style.

On hangtrend you can get introduced to new products and find stuff that is your style and in your price range.

Secondly, we have created a trending and trend setter software that helps us determine new trends and what users set those trends.

This information is extremely valuable and retailers are willing to for this information.

Most of the rental industry is still dependent on fax machines.

We think this is incredibly outdated and are out to change it.

 Rocket Lease started in 2011.

Right now we’re in the revenue generating stage.

We have a fully functional product that is currently used by landlords across the country.

Richard Jackson founded Mapov.com in May 2011 and has since been working intensively with a small team of developers reimagining what we believe to be the future of hotel search engines.

Lead Horse Technologies launched April 2006.

We’ve spent 5 years in R&D developing Medloom’s artificial intelligence algorithm, testing in a clinical study, getting involved in peer-reviewed publications, collaborating with a national drug safety surveillance team out of S. Carolina, and receiving FDA’s nod of approval for work on task orders.

The professional Medloom IT tool is a market ready product.

My job at Hublished is mainly two-fold.

I handle top-funnel marketing, including PR and overarching digital strategies, and I am the architect of the website, working with our engineers on a daily basis to develop and improve the user interface experience of our site.

We officially were founded in June of 2012, but our concept dates back to March 2011.

We are currently in a dual development stage in which we are developing an alpha version of our site while simultaneously aggregating early users.

As of now the feedback has been almost entirely positive and enthusiastic, and we are very optimistic about our upcoming launch.

Our apps are available for Android and iOS work offline and are 100% free to use.

We started in May 2011 and raised a seed round from a number of investors.

With that money we started developing the product described above.

After one year we had 1.5 million downloads of our apps and a great plan to make them even better. 

In June we closed a Series A round. So currently, we are busy growing our team.

Mr. ‘Sebastian Steppeler’ has talked to us about his Germany-based start-up project “Epick“; which the project name stands for Electronic Piano Construction Kit.

According to Mr. ‘Steppeler’; he is currently developing an optical sensor bar for pianos, Rhodes, Wurlizer and Hammond organs, that allows the user to midify his piano or vintage instrument for a retail price way below 1000$.

It is new compared to other products in the sense that it actually involves physical modeling of a (grand)piano action, where all physical parameters like material constants and measurements of the action can be set by the user for each key individually.

It also focuses on the midifying solely, so the end user can save the money for a built-in inflexible synthesizer/sampler and thus choose which synthesizer(s) he wants to control over MIDI or USB-MIDI. [Read more…]

Today, Mr. ‘Danish Nadeem'; Founder and CEO of the US (New York)-based start-up “CourseSpree Inc.”, introduced us to his  web-based company in terms of who they are and what they really do.

According to Mr. ‘Nadeem'; CourseSpree.com is an ecommerce site geared to help students earn better grades while earning an income.CourseSpree’s mission is to help students succeed academically.

On our site, Students can hire tutors for virtual/location based tutoring sessions, get subject specific help by posting a question with a price ($), buy class notes, study guides and make recurring revenue for themselves by selling their notes to others.

We are in the process of partnering up with more local colleges and universities to help them manage their tutors and note takers and funneling those resources to students in one convenient place.

Danish Nadeem founded CourseSpree Inc. in May 2012, while he was finishing his Bachelors as an undergrad at Syracuse University to help universities manage their resources in a cheaper and effective manner.
